Our Founder's Story
Music became
my anchor
Hello, my name is Jaemin Shah. At the age of five, I was diagnosed with Epilepsy. Much of my early childhood felt like a blur as I navigated the effects of both the medication and the disease.
I struggled with academics, and often felt adrift β until I found the cello. The moment I began playing, everything changed. Music gave me focus, purpose, and a sense of stability that nothing else could.
Years of dedication led me to the Manhattan School of Music's Precollege Program. Now, I'm eager to share the transformative power of music with children, and ignite in them the same passion that continues to shape my life.
My older brothers Taejin, Kanen, and Deven were inspired by my growth through music, and together we created Melodies with Meaning.

What Families Say
Hear it from parents
My daughter takes flute lessons through Melodies with Meaning, and it's been such a great experience. Her teacher, Taejin, is still in high school, but honestly you'd never know it. He's responsible, consistent, and clearly loves what he does. He handled all the scheduling himself and showed up ready every single week. What's meant the most to me is the effect he's had on my daughter. She's more motivated than ever and wants to keep getting better. Watching how Taejin carries himself has shown her the kind of person she can grow into. I'd recommend him and this program to any family, and knowing the tuition goes to a good cause makes it even better.
Sungah Kim, Parent of a Flute Student
We've really appreciated our experience with Melodies with Meaning. It's such a meaningful program, and I love that music here isn't just about learning skills, it's also about building confidence, creativity, and joy in kids. The mission of giving back through music makes it even more special to us. My daughter always looks forward to class, and we've seen so much growth in her confidence and the way she expresses herself. We're grateful for this program and would recommend it to any family.
